What's Good:
Everything you want built into one device.
What's Bad:
You have to be careful of your levels so you won't blow your amp up!

I used to have all these different guitar effects, switches and plugs. Then Line 6 came out with the POD> It gives you the tones of the Ampeg SVT and B-15, the Marshall Major and Plexi Super Bass, SWR, Versatone and the Vox AC 10 -- 16 Amp Models in all, 16 Cabinet Models, plus 16 digital effect combinations and A.I.R which simulates the interactions of mics and speaker cabinets. Effects include distortions, phasers, flanger, envelope follower, octave divider and crossover. 36 programmable channels are included for storage of custom arrangements of amp/cabs/effects. Unique Dual outputs (modeled and direct) give the Bass POD an edge in recording, allowing the studio to mix direct bass, modeled bass, and miked bass amps. The effects can be applied or not to the direct output.

Now that I have the Bass POD, I got rid of all those other effects I had. The Bass POD is the only thing I need. I had the POD for over 5 years now and it's never let me down. It gets dropped, thrown, shakin', and it's still working after 5 years. You can even download more effects and updates from their website to the POD.

Handsfree operation of all Line 6 amps or PODs. Rugged steel switches let you select sounds for seamless channel switching, and give you stomp box-style on/off control of individual effects, wah pedal with toe switch on/off, volume pedal, chromatic digital tuner, tap tempo, expanded memory for Flextone II and Spider. No wall wart required. Works with the Flextone I and II, the AX2 series, the Spider I, and older PODs.

Being a proud owner of both a POD XT Pro and a Bass Pod, I can understand the great review this product gets. It does have it's interface issues however. I get frustrated with the 'modal' operation of the 'cabs and eq' button so that you can get different uses out of the dials (and in the process lose any feedback over what settings you may have had) and the tuner could be better. The POD XT Pro fixes some of the problems with a better tuner and a pc interface to show settings (with cute pictures of amps and mic's etc, did I mention it does microphone modelling, SM57, SM58 Neumans, etc). I don't mean to be negative about this product as I was looking for THAT tone for over 10 years before I found this. Now I have the Line 6 Guitar aswell I am a happy man (even happier not I've got my Martin 000M, now there is a product to review, not so techy though. As a freind of mine said "well.... what does it do?")
