Rockford Fosgate CD/MP3 Car Studio Review
Review by David Peck
- Product:
- Rockford Fosgate CP/MP3 Car Studio Player (company site)
- What's Good:

- What's Bad:
- You have to flip the panel open to put a CD in.
The 9120 is a shiny toy for big boys (and girls)! It has a very futuristic and sophisticated look to it that sets it apart from other units. The red backlight allows you to navigate the buttons in the dark. The faceplate is very comprehensive and simple to use. There aren't so many buttons you'll get lost. I like it because it doesn't take a long time to learn to use it with one hand while you drive. And the muli-colored display is clear and easy to read.
The 9120 features an oversized rotary control knob with a simple button layout for easy control. The 9120 comes equipped with 3 preamp outputs, a hefty 4x50 Watt amplifier, a large easy to read multi-colored 10-character LCD display all wrapped up in a slick silver package. Other features include Source Tone Memory, 12FM/6AM presets, and built-in 80Hz low-pass filter. This is a pretty simple straight forward unit. What's nice though is you'll be able to play MP3s with the 9120, which nowadays is virtually a must.
I like the rotary knob, receivers that use buttons for the volume control aren't as easy to use when driving. The red backlighting is cool as hell. It makes the silver trim glow red also. I envision the 9120 going into a nice WRX, or Eclipse, or Celica or even those Fast and Furious looking cars.

If you're considering a set up that will just blow the competition away - go with Rockford Fosgate! As for the 9120, I'd say it's worth the price tag. You're not getting amazing features but then you're not paying for amazing features. For the average driver the 9120 is perfect. Just pop in your CD pump up the volume and roll!
