Shortly after purchasing my iPod, one thing became quite apparent to me: my ears are not made for iPod earbuds. The darn things just would not stay in my ears, and if they did stay put, they seemed to cause a considerable amount of pain. In fact, they hurt so much, i stopped using them completely and switched to a much larger pair of Jensen headphones, which really cut down on the the whole ‘portable’ appeal of the iPod.
Eventually i started to look for a higher quality set of ear buds, something with a softer, inner ear type bud. I wasn’t looking to spend too much, and had trouble finding something cheap that would do the trick. While visiting our local Mac shop, i came across the Griffin EarJams, and decided to give them a try.
The EarJams just snap over the iPod earbuds, and have a soft rubber ‘earpad’ on them that slips easily and comfortably into your ear. I was a little skeptical at first, but once i tried them out, they made a huge difference. Not only did they help to keep the earbud in my ear, they also made it less noticeable and therefore much more comfortable to wear. They even seem to give a much warmer, less tinny sound when attached to the buds.
The Ear Jams come with three different sizes of earpads that are easily attached to the clips thus adjusting for different size ears. They also come with a nifty little carry case that you can actually fit the earbuds in as well. Though they do seem a little pricey [$14.99 USD], compared to buying a new set of decent buds, these EarJams make perfect sense for anyone looking to make their iPod earbuds a little more bearable
