Giro Havoc Helmet Review
- Product:
- Giro Havoc Helmet (company site)
- What's Good:
- Light, great ventilation, stylish.
- What's Bad:
- Relatively expensive.
I've owned quite a few cycling helmets over the years and Giro's Havoc is my clear favourite so far. I went into Smooth Cycle last spring and was surprised how affordable the latest Giros were. Granted a hundred bucks isn't cheap as far as bike helmets go, you get a helmet with almost all of the available top-of-the-line features for your hard-earned cash.
The first thing you notice with the Havoc is that it's got tons of ventilation. I've never owned a helmet before that actually allows a stream of air to effectively flow through it to cool your heated cranium. It's telling that when I stop for a breather on a hot day, I don't whip this helmet off my head to cool down like I would would any other helmet I've owned.
Giro's patented Roc-Loc system is still the best system I've seen for keeping your helmet on your head. Adjust it once and then never touch it again. Simple and indestructable. I've used systems by Louis Garneau, Specialized, Bell, and others and Giro has them beat.
The other nice selling point for the Havoc is that it's available in simple black. No loud decals and no bright colours. Clean and simple, just the way I like it.
